Tom Hammond

TOM HAMMOND COULD BECOME the mayor of Lexington, Kentucky, anytime he wishes to run for the office. Hammond can’t go two strides in public without being stopped by an admirer who shares a mutual friend or a memory from having watched and listened to the broadcaster. Hammond began his career as a local radio and TV sports reporter and ended up as the voice of the Olympic Games on NBC and of Notre Dame football, among many other assignments in virtually all sports. That of course included his hosting many years of Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup races, to which he brought a thorough knowledge of the sport couched in a silky-smooth delivery. Hammond is also a horse owner and loves all aspects of the horse world.
